Wildwood, NJ - Today, Congressman Van Drew hosted a hearing entitled, “An Examination Into Offshore Wind Industrialization” and was joined by Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD), and Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA).
"During today’s field hearing we learned what so many of us have been saying all along - this is a rushed, unfair process that has been ignoring the many warning signs we have been seeing," said Congressman Van Drew. "Our panel of witnesses exposed many of these egregious issues, from harmful effects to marine life, increased energy rates, and the collusion between our federal government and offshore wind companies to get these projects done, no matter the cost.
"I thank our witnesses and the hundreds of concerned citizens that attended and watched this hearing live. I sincerely apologize to all of those who wished to attend the hearing in person, but unfortunately the venue did hit maximum capacity and they made the decision to turn away individuals. I will continue pushing forward with this effort and will continue making the public aware of when additional hearings are taking place. This is an effort that needs the full-weight of Congress and I look forward to continuing this work in Washington, DC."
