Hi John:
I just want to tell you how much I appreciate everything you have done and continue to do to support me.
As you know, for the last two years quite a lot of my time was consumed by my service on the January 6th Committee. I’m incredibly proud of what we did to tell the truth and defend our democracy.
This year I find myself still defending the work of that committee against Republican apologists and revisionists who want to convince America that there was no threat… “just a tourist visit”. And in January I was also chosen by my colleagues to be the top Democrat on the Science Committee — an important responsibility that I take very seriously along with my ongoing work on the House Judiciary Committee.
Right now, however, I find myself also needing to prepare for what is likely to be serious re-election campaign given the public indication that the outgoing mayor of San Jose is exploring a race against me. I need to be ready.
I absolutely hate fundraising. Without a doubt, it has always been my least favorite part of serving in elected office. I wish I didn’t have to do it – especially for myself — but right now, it’s a necessity as we very quickly approach our first reporting deadline on March 31st. This is also the first public financial report since the outgoing mayor paid for his poll for a potential run against me.
If there’s anything you can chip in before the end of this month to help, I would be incredibly grateful. And I promise to put it to do good use. Here is the link if you choose to make a contribution: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/zl-fr-2303
So many of my supporters have told me they’re ready to knock on doors, make calls, host house parties, and donate whatever they can to help me win again. With that kind of encouragement, I know we will win.
I am lucky to have you in my corner.
Zoe
