[ [link removed] ]Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for Congress

It’s not every day we have good news to share from Congress. But even in
the minority, Alexandria is moving the needle and finding opportunities
for bipartisan support.

Even with President Biden’s federal action last year, minor cannabis
offenses continue to hold back so many Americans — disproportionately
people of color — from employment, housing, and other opportunities. The
vast majority of these criminal charges exist at the state and local
government, where expungements can be impeded by limited resources and
outdated technology.

But alongside Republican David Joyce (OH-14), Alexandria has introduced
the HOPE Act (Harnessing Opportunities by Pursuing Expungement), designed
to grant federal resources to digitize records, create legal relief
clinics, and expedite the expungement process while supporting the
individuals going through it.

[ [link removed] ]Not only could this bill be life-changing for the hundreds of thousands
of people whose low-level charges prevent them from reaching their full
potential, it’s proof that Alexandria’s fight for dignity for all
transcends party lines. If you can afford a $3 donation
today, we ask you to support her fight today.

The HOPE Act nearly garnered enough support to move forward in
Alexandria’s last term. Democrats rallied behind two marijuana reform
bills — the HOPE Act and the SAFE Banking Act — and were able to open
conversations with Republican lawmakers in the lame duck period as the
last Congress ended.

[ [link removed] ]Alexandria’s work to open opportunities for low-level offenders is
bigger than partisan politics, and she is only able to do it with your
grassroots support. If you can, your $3 donation today goes
a long way in making new opportunities available to all.

In solidarity,

Team AOC
