First, it’s been more than a month since we first alerted you that HF91, the infanticide bill, was ready for a vote on the House floor. But we haven’t seen a floor vote. Instead, we’ve seen consternation among Democratic leadership, and even a public admission that senior Democrats are worried they can’t bring it across the finish line. Why is that? Well, in part, it’s because of our policy team. They’ve been raising concerns with legislators since Day 1 - showing how truly extreme this bill is.
It’s also because almost 4,000 Minnesotans have used our action alert system to send messages to their legislators on this bill (and a few others) this session. YOU told your legislators that you want babies who survive an abortion to receive medical care - shouldn't we all be able to agree on that, at least? Some legislators are listening, and it’s making party leaders furious.
John, here’s another reason for hope. Last week, we reported that the PSEO program, which allows high school students to gain college credit, was under threat. A bill is advancing that would keep colleges and universities with a statement of faith, such as the University of Northwestern, from offering PSEO classes. This is a blatant attack on religious freedom that would be slapped down in any federal courtroom - but progressive legislators are still pushing it, even publicly admitting that their efforts are about “excluding” religious schools. Will you stand with us against this baldfaced attempt to limit religious freedom?

Minnesotans did NOT take that attack lying down. Last week, I shared a picture of a large group of homeschoolers (who often benefit from PSEO programs) who came to the Capitol to make their concerns heard. While we don’t know if the PSEO-threatening bill will continue to move forward, it was so encouraging to see homeschoolers show up IN FORCE to tell legislators to protect their rights. It was just as encouraging to see so many young people at our United for Life rally day at the Minnesota State Capitol on February 28th.
This session, I’ve prayed that Minnesotans would wake up and see what is being done in the name of democracy. I know that once Minnesotans wake up, they will NOT stay silent on the issues that matter.
That’s why I’m asking for your financial support now. Your one-time gift of $50 or $100 to Minnesota Family Council, or a monthly partnering gift of $12, helps us fight at the Capitol for the values we share. Your tax-deductible gift of the same amount to Minnesota Family Institute helps us bring pastors to the Capitol to pray God’s Word over our legislators, and it helps our True North Legal initiative as we fight for YOUR rights at the legislature and in the courtroom.

It’s still winter in Minnesota - but spring is on the way. With your help, John, I know God will favor our state in the days ahead. These two reasons for hope will grow and multiply, until we’re able to make Minnesota a place where life is cherished, where families thrive according to God’s design, and where religious freedom flourishes. Until then, with your help, we fight on. |
