Dear John,
It's the only second week of the legislative session, and yet the Legislature is pushing harmful bills through committees at breakneck speed. They are trying to overwhelm and confuse us, but we will not stay silent. There are multiple concerning bills quickly heading to the Senate and House floor, and we need your help.
In addition to taking away your freedom to pay your union dues however you see fit, certain politicians are also ripping much-needed funds away from our neighborhood public schools and the students they serve.
We need to remind lawmakers that decisions being made in Tallahassee affect people of all walks of life in Florida. If you have just a few minutes, please contact your senator and tell them to vote NO on SB 256. [link removed]
If you have more time, we urge you to contact lawmakers regarding other important legislation:
Contact those who voted against your freedoms, and thank those who stood up for you [link removed] the Senate Fiscal Policy Committee.
Email the members of the House State Affairs Committee [link removed] and ask them to oppose the House version of SB 256, HB 1445.
Contact your senator [link removed] and ask them to oppose SB 202, universal vouchers.
Thank you for everything you do for your students and our state.
In solidarity,
Andrew Spar, President
