Folks,

I’m gonna get right to it. The upcoming race for Governor in Mississippi fires me up. And after you finish reading this email, I hope you get fired up too.

Republican incumbent Tate Reeves is the embodiment of everything wrong with one party rule, Republican politics here in the South.

Both Reeves and the former Republican Governor are caught up in an investigation for misspending $77 million in state funding that was intended for Mississippi’s poor and low wealth citizens. Instead, that money went to famous athletes, political allies, and even helped publish the first lady’s children's book.

That’s right - stealing money intended to improve the living conditions of poor Mississippi residents for the benefit of celebrities and cronies. That’s about as bad as it gets, folks. And because the GOP controls all levers of power in the state, there won’t be any bit of accountability at the highest levels. That’s why we need to do everything we can to make sure Mississippi sees a change in leadership. [[link removed]]

Tate Reeves is an ultra-conservative radical too. He refused to deny he’d ban birth control in Mississippi, made access to the ballot box in Mississippi one of the most restrictive in the country, declared April “Confederate Heritage Month.” And refused to expand Medicaid even though Mississippi is the poorest state in the country and rural hospitals are closing left and right.

I could go on about Reeve’s corruption and extremism, but I’d rather tell you about his opponent, Brandon Presley.

Brandon is a man of integrity and has used his career in public service to improve the lives of people in his state. He got his start at 23 when he was elected one of the youngest Mayors in Mississippi history, and has since worked as a Public Service Commissioner expanding internet access to rural communities and cutting utility costs.

Simply put. Brandon Presley is a man of public service and action and Tate Reeves is a man of public corruption.

I don’t want to hear anything about how hard it is for a Democrat to win in the South. We proved the whole country wrong in 2017, and Presley is on track to do the exact same thing in 2023.

Polls already show him with a slight lead in this race! The people of Mississippi are tired of one party rule and all the corruption that has plagued their state with the GOP in complete control.

Winning this race is possible and with the differences as stark as they are here, I’m reaching out early and urgently about getting you involved here.

Pitch in a split contribution to support Brandon today. Winning this race in 2023 will provide the boost we need in 2024. [[link removed]]
