John,

Yesterday began hearings on a case in Texas that threatens access to mifepristone, one of two medications commonly used for medication abortion. The ridiculousness of the lawsuit was already well established – considering mifepristone has been used safely and effectively for over 20 years – and became even more so when Judge Kacsmaryk, a Trump appointment, kept the location a secret until the last minute, limiting the amount of public and press who would be able to attend. [1]

Medication abortion is, and always will be, a safe, vital option for people seeking abortion care.

The consequences of this case extend beyond Texas, with the lawsuit seeking to take mifepristone off the shelves nationwide, even in states that have taken steps to protect abortion. This is a cruel and calculated maneuver by anti-abortion leaders proving what we always knew:

That they would not stop at Roe.

Kacsmaryk said he would issue a ruling “as soon as possible” [2] and while we wait to hear about this gross overreach we want to take this moment to stand up and support, unequivocally, abortion supporters, providers, havers, and seekers.

We see you. We trust you. You know what is best for your own body and life.

Sincerely,

Erin Matson
Executive Director, Reproaction

P.S. Say it loud, say it proud: Abortion Pills Are Magic.
