Dear Friend,
When our backs are against the wall, Earthjustice goes to court to defend the future of our planet.
On Monday, the Biden administration approved the Willow Project. It is the largest ever oil drilling project on U.S. public lands, and it will release 260 million metric tons of greenhouse gas into the atmosphere.
Millions of activists already told the Biden administration to reject this project, and thousands more have jammed the phone lines at the White House since the decision was released. But despite Biden’s promises on climate, the administration is determined to move forward.
So on Wednesday morning, we sued to stop the project.
When our government bows to pressure from the fossil fuel industry, the environmental movement turns to Earthjustice to defend the future of our planet in court. Our 200+ attorneys are often the last line of defense against environmental devastation. And we know how to beat the odds: We’ve sued to halt this project before and won. Help us do it again by donating to Earthjustice today.

The Willow Project will devastate imperiled wildlife like polar bears, migratory birds, and caribou, jeopardize the health and traditional practices of nearby Alaska Native communities, and release 260 million metric tons of greenhouse gas into the atmosphere.
We are dismayed that the Biden administration approved this project. This decision undercuts its own climate goals and pushes us closer to climate disaster.
We are not giving up our fight against this project. We are taking the administration to court.
We believe we can win this lawsuit and halt the project for good. In 2020, we sued to halt the project and won. The Trump-era permits for the project did not consider Willow’s global climate impact, and our lawsuit forced the Biden administration to review them again before proceeding.
Earthjustice is the largest nonprofit legal organization fighting to protect the planet. Our experience, legal expertise, and relationships with our clients and partners makes us uniquely positioned to take on the most significant environmental cases in the country.
Earthjustice attorneys proudly represent our clients free of charge, so we rely on donations from supporters who care about climate change and the environment to fund our litigation. Please help support our lawsuit against the Willow Project with a donation to Earthjustice.
