John,

Remember the days when Phil Berger and Tim Moore could snap their fingers and pass whatever pro-polluter policies they wanted? Well, those days are luckily over, thanks to you.

Last week, Berger hoped he could persuade a member of the opposite party to override Gov. Cooper’s veto of his budget which badly underfunds pollution protection. But our environmental champions heard your pleas and held firm, and the budget wasn’t even brought up for a vote. Legislators went home defeated.

Why did this happen? Our work was decisive in electing Gov. Cooper and his veto stamp in 2016, and piercing the anti-environment supermajority in 2018.

In 2020, with your help, we’ll take it a step further. Click here to renew your membership and be a part of the crucial fight ahead >> [link removed]

It’s time to stop just playing defense and start building a government that protects our communities. We’re planning a massive effort to elect even more pro-conservation legislators to join our Green Caucus.

To do that, we need the resources to run strategic TV and online ads, to send targeted mail, and to knock the doors of the right voters who will elect the right leaders. That endeavor is expensive, but North Carolina’s future depends on it. And it begins with your gift today.

I just talked with our finance team, and they tell me we have no record of a contribution from you! Here’s what our database shows:

If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to elevate your engagement with our work, now is the time! The election is less than 10 months away.

We can’t keep going down the path we’ve been on. It’s going to take all of us pitching in as generously as possible to accomplish the change we need in 2020. To build our program and fulfill our vision, we have to meet our January goal, and we’re still $3,470 short!

Our average gift right now is $34. John, will you match or double that ($68) to help us close this gap? >> [link removed]

Coal ash, GenX, hog waste, climate change — the challenges are many, but we can solve them if we elect the right leaders.

That’s been our work for more than 50 years. We operate at the intersection of environmental protection and political action. We build a political environment that protects our natural environment — and our people. When lawmakers carry water for the polluters over the people, we take them on. In their place, we support leaders who will fight for clean air, clean water, and clean energy for all North Carolinians.

That’s what your investment helps us accomplish. When you give for the first time, you put our mission into action.
