Democrat “leaders” in the State House arrogantly put personal power ahead of public safety.
Shift Washington
Friends,

During a media availability, Democrat Speaker of the House Laurie Jinkins declared she would never “cede authority” to the minority party as her petty reason for refusing to follow the will of a majority of the members of the State House of Representatives and bring a bill reforming the Democrats’ failed ban on police pursuits to a floor vote before a major deadline. Her shocking response demonstrates that Democrat “leaders” in the State House arrogantly put personal power ahead of public safety.

Democrats know that their 2021 ban on police pursuits continues to fail catastrophically. Innocent lives have been lost because of their actions. But the lives lost are not good enough reasons to allow Republicans a legislative victory. For Democrats, it’s all about power. Even the if that means sacrificing the safety of our communities.

Speaker Jinkins must be pressured by the public to do the right thing and pass the reform bill – the original version of House Bill 1363 – as that’s probably the only way she will put her arrogance aside. And the only way to alert the public of what is going on in Olympia right now is through organizations like Shift WA.

Mainstream media outlets have proved, time and time again, that they cannot be trusted to put any pressure on legislative Democrats. To protect Democrats, media outlets will omit key facts, delay relevant stories, or just not report on a story at all.

That’s why organizations like Shift WA are so important. We work to hold Democrats, who control every branch of our state government, accountable to the people. Our mission is to highlight the stories and events that mainstream media outlets ignore or underplay just because they reflect badly on Democrats.
