In 1985, the Founding Mothers of EMILYs List set an ambitious goal: we wanted to build a network of at least 1,000 members who were committed to our mission of electing Democratic pro-choice women to every level of office. We surpassed that goal in just ten months.
Today, 38 years later, our community is now millions-strong and as dedicated as ever.
Though the political landscape may look different now than it did in 1985, our mission hasn't changed a bit. EMILYs List members are still tenacious, passionate individuals committed to breaking barriers for women, fighting back against Republican extremism, and supporting incredible leaders who get things done.
That's why I'm inviting you, John, to pledge your support and become an official 2023 EMILYs List member.
Like you, I was furious when the conservative-packed Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade this past summer. But while far-right Republicans celebrated the decision, we rolled up our sleeves.
And because of our hard work as a community, we were able to hold the Senate, defend critical governorships, and block Republicans from enacting even more extensive and draconian abortion restrictions last cycle thanks, in large part, to investments made by EMILYs List members — people like you! Without the support and determination of our pro-choice supporters, none of those victories would have been possible.
But this fight is nowhere near over. The 2023-2024 election cycle is now underway, and the battle for our democracy and autonomy continues.
