As the world faces unprecedented humanitarian needs, the United States must continue to be a leader in providing emergency relief and developmental support for communities in need. President Biden’s recent budget proposal includes robust humanitarian funding. Now, we must urge Congressional leaders to fully fund critical foreign aid accounts in the fiscal year 2024 budget.

Subject: ✍️ [Add your name] Tell Congress: fund humanitarian relief.

Dear friend,

Global humanitarian need is at an all-time high. More than 100 million people are now displaced as a result of violent conflict and climate disasters. And more than 350 million people are at risk for extreme hunger as the global food crisis shows no relief in sight.

Today, you have an opportunity to tell our leaders that billions in funding should be designated for those in greatest need around the world.

We’re seeking at least 2,000 signatures on our petition urging the U.S. Congress to show up as a humanitarian leader and provide robust funding for emergency relief and long-term community development.

Will you add your name to show your support for communities facing crisis today?

A woman and her daughter register to receive emergency kits from Mercy Corps in Northwest Syria. We are providing essential supplies, shelter, and clean water after recent earthquakes.
Last week, President Biden unveiled a March budget proposal that included critical investments in humanitarian aid. As the budget proposal is negotiated in Congress, we’re calling on leaders to maintain the United States’ leadership in humanitarian assistance by ensuring critical foreign aid accounts are fully funded in the upcoming fiscal year.

Families around the world feel the daily shocks of conflict and disaster — from the start of a second year of war in Ukraine to the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria to a global food crisis pushing millions to the brink of starvation. In the face of these challenges and many more, we are urging Congress to:
Fully fund the Migration and Refugees Assistance and International Disaster Assistance accounts at $4.14 billion and $4.98 billion, respectively, to provide lifesaving emergency assistance to communities in crisis.

Fund the Development Assistance account at no less than $5.43 billion and the Economic Support Fund at $5.39 billion to invest in long-term sustainable development and build community resilience.
It’s time to take action: Please add your name to our petition calling on Congress to help millions of families in emergency situations and invest in long-term supports as communities recover and rebuild.
