Team,

I was at the Michigan State Capitol for a rally for gun safety with Gabby Giffords and many, many Michiganders who are saying enough is enough, it’s time for action.

Gun violence is preventable, and together, we must demand action on gun violence prevention bills.  

I am inspired by state lawmakers who have an 11-bill gun violence prevention package with solutions that will save lives and keep our communities safe including “red flag” laws, background checks, safe storage laws, and more.

I am proud that the state I represent in Congress is taking action. Democrats are leading the charge in Lansing and we need to continue to lead the fight in Washington D.C.

Guns can cross state borders, which is why it’s imperative that we pass federal gun violence prevention legislation to keep every American safe. I’m ready to work across the aisle with House Republicans who control the U.S. House to get that done, but I know that it’s going to be hard work.
