Social media post opens the door for great opportunity
When Kaye McKleroy saw social media posts about CCL from her friend Jim
Ferguson, she was very impressed with our work. She told her friend,
James Robert Lilienthal, also called Jim, about CCL.
As Jim was planning his estate, he told Kaye that he cared about the
environment and asked her to choose a climate change organization to be
a beneficiary of the James R. Lilienthal Revocable Trust. Guess who Kaye
selected?
"I picked Citizens' Climate because I had heard about their work from my
friend Jim Ferguson via social media articles," Kaye explained to the
CCL Development Team

. "It is the kind of organization that Jim would approve of in that you
work on both the national and local levels and rely on devoted
volunteers. He wasn't interested in a famous slick group. He was a
grassroots sort of guy. He would also have approved of your points of
view."
The gift from Jim's estate will go a long way toward CCL's ability to do
the important work that we do. You can have a big impact, too! During
the month of March, consider becoming a monthly donor with CCL so we can
continue to empower volunteers, host informative conferences, and
encourage members of Congress to work across the aisle on climate
change. Will you follow in Jim's footsteps and help CCL today?

recently gotten opinion editorials published about conservative action
on climate. Sylvia Neely

Featured Chapter: CCL California Orange County South
The California Orange County South Chapter of CCL is hard at work
growing healthy forests in the Golden State.
"We are planting a tree in San Juan Capistrano on Earth Day and six
native trees in San Clemente on Arbor Day," says chapter leaders Larry
Kramer and Karl Reitz. "We are marching as CCE in the Swallows Day
Parade on March 25, and we are tabling at the San Clemente Garden
Festival on April 15."
Larry and Karl share that more people than ever are stepping up to take
action, and they're looking at working alongside other nearby chapters.
But for now, the chapter is working hard on urban forests.
"We are working to make San Clemente a part of Tree City USA. We have a
monthly feature column in one local newspaper and are working to broaden
that to three or more," say Larry and Karl. "We are primarily
emphasizing the urban forest aspect in the planting of local trees and
using the other three policy areas in our featured newspaper articles."
Great work, California Orange County South!
