Team, I wanted to let you know that, after six incredible years, I’ll be stepping down as President of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee.

I helped found the NDRC in 2017 because I believed in Attorney General Eric Holder’s plan to stop Republicans from gerrymandering in 2021-2022 the way they did in 2011-2012. It was the first time ever that Democrats were developing a comprehensive national strategy to combat GOP map manipulation.

In the years since, grassroots supporters like you have helped the NDRC execute an incredibly effective strategy. We’ve held map-manipulating politicians accountable, helped elect Democracy Defenders, passed fair redistricting reforms, and more. These efforts helped secure the fairest congressional map in 40 years!

We have a lot to be proud of, team. But the fight for fair maps continues.

Redistricting litigation is happening right now in more than a dozen states, monumental redistricting decisions will be coming from the Supreme Court later this year, and Republicans are still determined to politicize the courts and gerrymander their way to power.

It’s clear that redistricting is no longer a once-in-a-decade phenomenon. As we enter this next phase of the work, I look forward to continuing to serve the NDRC as a Board Member and strategic advisor. But before I take that step, I have one more ask – an ask that, as a supporter of our work, you undoubtedly have heard from me before:
