Friends,
People in Pajaro Valley need our help right now to recover from the extreme weather impacting our state.
Last week’s storms and the breach of the Pajaro River levee have caused massive flooding — forcing families to flee the area. I’m grateful that President Biden has declared a federal emergency to provide assistance, but this recovery effort is going to take many hands.
I was proud to help secure $149 million in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to address the urgent flood risks along the Pajaro River, including the modernization of the 74-year old levee that breached. Unfortunately, mother nature did not wait for the Army Corps to complete its work.
Local community organizations have stepped up in significant ways to provide immediate support. They are on the frontlines of the efforts to recover and rebuild. There are so many families who need our help, and one of the best things we can do for them right now is making sure that these frontline relief organizations have the resources they need.
If you have the means, please consider making a contribution to support these relief efforts. Here are three fantastic organizations who are leading the work to most effectively distribute resources. You can use any of their links below to ensure 100% of your donation goes to those in need:
Community Foundation Santa Cruz County’s Disaster Relief Fund: [link removed]
Community Bridges / Puentes De La Comunidad’s Disaster Recovery Services: [link removed]

Thank you in advance for supporting these communities in need.
