Hi John, Being an athlete, my game days are riddled with superstitions and rituals . . . I have a lucky hair tie, a lucky sports bra, I eat the same breakfast, and I run through the same warm up every game. If a member of my team is taking a penalty kick (a "PK"), I turn my back and don’t watch. If a shot on my team’s net bounces off the post, I make sure I go over and kiss the post after the game. These are just the things I have to do so my team wins the game 🤷‍♀️. In Philly, there’s a long-time tradition of determining a candidate’s ballot position from a coffee can. And every election, candidates go in person and pull their own number from the "coffee can of destiny" to determine where they'll land on the ballot. But last night, my superstition creeped up on me and told me that I had to be facing away from the PK if I wanted our team to score. So I didn't draw my own ballot position out of a coffee can, instead a civil servant unaffiliated with our campaign pulled it for me. And we got #1. Ballot position is crucial in Philadelphia elections, especially for an underdog running against the machine. We’ve just been given a helping hand with this ballot position. But that also means the machine is going to come down even harder on our campaign — and we need you to be part of our team.
