John,
It seems that every time the wealthy and powerful create a financial crisis through their greed and risky behavior, they get bailed out by U.S. taxpayers. But when we fight for critical policies for working and low-income people, such as student debt relief and Medicare for All, we’re told we can’t afford it.
In the wake of the failures of Silicon Valley Bank in California and Signature Bank in New York, I will hold President Biden to his word that no taxpayer dollars will be used to bail out these irresponsible financial institutions. I am also working with my colleagues in the House and Senate to immediately repeal the 2018 banking deregulation law, which banks spent nearly $2 billion advocating for through direct lobbying and campaign contributions in the 2018 election cycle.1
The American people are sick of our government only addressing the interests of the wealthy and corporations while ordinary people are continuously rejected in our fight for livable wages, affordable housing, and access to higher education.
Pitch in today to hold these “too big to fail” banks accountable and fight for policies that support working and vulnerable people, not the rich and corporations.
I have not been shy about taking on the big banks. During the last session of Congress, I held executives at J.P. Morgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, and CitiGroup accountable for their lack of knowledge about how their investments in dirty fossil fuel projects are contributing to environmental racism, which lead to increases in pre-existing conditions of residents in frontline communities due to poisoning our air, water, and soil.
JP Morgan, Citi Bank, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America alone have financed $977 billion in fossil fuel projects since the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement, including financing Marathon Petroleum in my district’s backyard.
Pitch in today to fight back against greedy banks that put their profits ahead of the safety of our communities and our economy.

Thank you for fighting by my side as we ensure the voices of our residents, not the Big Banks, are the ones impacting decisions in Washington, DC and in our communities.
In solidarity,
