Tomorrow morning the Republican’s 6-week abortion ban, HB7, will have its first hearing in the Florida House Healthcare Regulation Subcommittee. This near-total ban on abortion is the most offensive, harmful attack on our reproductive freedom we’ve seen from the GOP yet.

HB 7 bans abortion after 6 weeks, and the exception for rape or incest places a cruel burden on survivors of violence by requiring them to provide a restraining order, police report, medical record, or court order. It also expands funding for anti-abortion fake clinics that give medically inaccurate and potentially dangerous information to people about their pregnancies.

We need our legislators to hear us loud and clear: we will not stay silent while they eviscerate our reproductive rights.

SCRIPT for Chair and Committee: Script: “Hi, my name is __________ and I’m a (self-described parent/activists/student/community member) who is concerned about the safety of my family and myself. A six week abortion ban is dangerous and extreme. Politicians shouldn’t be making decisions about people’s health care, that's up to individuals and the healthcare provider, with the support system they choose. Vote no on the 6 week abortion ban. The 15 week ban is already dangerous and puts us all in harm’s way. I am asking you to please VOTE NO on HB 7 when it comes to your committee on Thursday.”
