John,

When my congressional office hosts town halls, nearly everyone there has a
question. And as a former teacher, I know that if you only call on the
loudest, highest hands—you will only be hearing the voices of a select
few. Oftentimes those voices skew privileged and powerful.

To make sure everyone’s voices are heard during congressional town halls,
my office uses a bingo wheel to call on people at random–we literally
democratized the process!

Too often elected officials only hear from the people with the highest,
loudest hands–-lobbyists or those with wealth and power and connections.
That’s not how our campaign will operate.

I want to hear from everyone. That means reaching people in every part of
California, from our cities to rural areas, talking with people of all
backgrounds and races and ages. While I know I can’t personally talk to
every single voter, that doesn’t mean I won’t try. Whether it’s a mom from
the opposing water polo team, the cashier at Albertsons, or the person in
the seat next to me as I fly back and forth from DC to LAX.

Campaigning is one of my favorite things. Knocking doors and talking
directly with voters is a part of how I won three competitive races in
Orange County. [ [link removed] ]Now, your contributions are laying the groundwork for
what will be a robust campaign to reach and hear from all Californians.
Consider chipping in today to power our work.
