This Monday, I went to Sacramento to honor the tenth anniversary of the founding of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, an organization that fights for common sense gun laws nationwide and lobbies state legislators for increased gun safety regulations.

Californians and all Americans deserve to feel safe from gun violence when they go to school, church, the grocery store, or any public gathering in their community. I’m proud to be part of Moms Demand Action.

On Tuesday, President Biden signed an executive order that will enact the most extensive gun safety legislation in decades. 

It will:

• Enhance universal background checks.
  
• Increase awareness of red flag laws.
  
• Improve support for victims and their families.
  
• Advance firearm and public safety practices.

This executive order is a huge step in the right direction. Moms Demand Action’s continued activism and advocacy is why this fight is worth it. I will never stop demanding common-sense gun laws because together, we can make a difference.
