Despite their claims of "small government," the Texas GOP is hypocritically overreaching by meddling with HISD, which has improved at a rapid pace over the past several years. We know their true intention, friend -- to demonize public schools and rally support for their school voucher agenda, using Houston kids and families as pawns in their political game.
This takeover will disrupt the education and lives of Houston kids, forcing hardworking families to navigate the chaos it will create. It’s crucial that we ensure that communities have the power to make decisions that best serve their needs. H.B. 3780, sponsored by Representative Alma Allen, would do just that by preventing future takeovers and holding the Texas Education Agency accountable.
