MDH COVID-19 community partnership

COVID-19 Stories of Community Outreach and Partnership [ [link removed] ]?highlight the efforts of our staff in collaboration with community partners during the COVID-19 response. Some stories provide insight into how this work is done, others discuss what challenges our teams face, but all of them recognize how COVID-19 has pushed MDH to try new strategies so we can fulfill our mission of protecting, maintaining, and improving the health of all Minnesotans.?

The power of community health care providers

To help address health equity issues arising from COVID-19, we started the?COVID-19 Community Coordinators [ [link removed] ]?program and partnered with community-based health care providers. These local community-based organizations and health clinics focus on serving our state?s diverse communities that are deeply affected by the pandemic. Clinics like Crown Medical Center, Gargar Clinic, and Briva Health support their local communities by providing health services in a culturally responsive way. This story highlights how these clinics provided unique, adaptive services to serve African immigrant communities in Minnesota.?

MDH COVID-19 phone surveys

In 2023, MDH is conducting phone interviews to better understand the impacts of COVID-19 and the pandemic on the lives of Minnesotans who have been infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

One project is based on a random sample of people across the state who had a lab-confirmed COVID-19 infection between 2021 and 2022. Phone calls will come from this number:*?651-318-6203.*

The second project involves calling people in McLeod County approximately one month after their lab-confirmed COVID-19 infection. Phone calls to McLeod County residents will come from this number:?*763-445-4875*.

Callers for both projects will identify themselves as being from the Minnesota Department of Health. The results of this survey will help us identify groups who may have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 and the pandemic and inform programmatic activities and priorities to equitably support those most affected.
