Protecting the last home of Lemurs in the Vangaindrano District

We need your help! The island of Madagascar is one of the most biodiverse places on Earth and home to extraordinary species that don’t exist anywhere else. Up to 90% of Madagascar’s habitats are already lost, and in the Vangaindrano District just a single forest remains.
The Ankarabolava-Agnakatrika protected area is home to stunning plants and animals, including at least 6 species of lemur, threatened endemic birds, and over 295 species of rare tropical flora. Not to mention the potential for countless new discoveries yet to be made.
But this habitat is at risk, and we need to act now to preserve it for future generations of life in this fragmented forest.
By donating to Madagascar: A Forest for the Future, you can help Missouri Botanical Garden’s Madagascar Programme expand this precious protected area, with the purchase of 200 ha of degraded land and the planting of 500,000 native trees to restore it in the years to come. Your support will also bring 1,000 new jobs to local communities.
Together we can secure and protect a forest for the future – an essential habitat where these species can thrive and a vital resource for local Malagasy communities that rely on the land.
