Dear John, The House Committee on Behavioral Health and Health Care will hold a hearing on House Bill 2002 next week. It's tentatively scheduled for Monday afternoon and will likely go into the evening. John, can you help us pack the room? We need the presence and testimony of pro-life advocates to push back on the pro-abortion agenda. HB 2002 allows a child at any age to receive "reproductive health care," including abortion. It also prohibits sharing information with parents unless the child provides explicit, written permission. It severely undermines families by withholding critical medical information and could easily put children in danger. It also creates a new crime of "interfering with a health care facility," causing a chilling effect on peaceful pro-life expression near abortion facilities. HB 2002 fulfills the promises pro-abortion activists made in December to radically expand abortion in Oregon. Can you attend the public hearing next week? Your presence is powerful, and you can provide written or spoken testimony if you want to do more. We've put together a guide to help you give effective testimony. We'll send more details as we learn them. Please help us show the committee that House Bill 2002 is dangerous for vulnerable families, children, and unborn human beings. Because everyone deserves an advocate, Lois Anderson |
