Hi John, this is Anna from No Dem Left Behind. I'm coming to
you with a very disturbing update on the ongoing attack on women's
healthcare and reproductive choice.

The South Carolina General Assembly has put forward and amended a bill
that would allow for the death penalty as an option if a woman seeks an
abortion. The bill, H. 3549, known as "South Carolina Prenatal Equal
Protection Act of 2023," assigns personhood at the moment of
fertilization. The bill features no exceptions for rape or incest. The
only carved-out protection is for women who act "in the proscribed conduct
because she was compelled to do so by the threat of imminent death or
great bodily injury."

While the GOP has nationally claimed that abortion laws are about
"protecting life" and "not about punishing women," we continue to see
legislation introduced with the potential to result in the deaths of
women, doctors, and even those who drive a patient to an abortion
appointment.

Let that sink in: the "pro-life" movement is perfectly fine with the death
penalty for women.

As someone who is passionate about healthcare and choice, this is yet
another example of the hypocrisy and lies that the GOP peddles to win
votes and score political points with a movement without any concern for
the lives that they destroy. This is the same party that votes against
expanding Medicaid, increasing formula access, and actively punishes
low-income families every time they gain power.
The GOP wants more children born with fewer ways to take care of them.
They want live births, but not life. They want women to have the option to
die from a virus, but not choose when they have a child.

This is going to continue. There will be more legislation like this. [ [link removed] ]We
have to act NOW and push back for the women of South Carolina and for the
country. Please chip in and fight back!

If you are able, please consider donating today. We must elect people that
will protect our freedoms, our healthcare, and the women of this nation.

Thank you.
