For years, women have been gaslighted to believe that the pay gap is proof of widespread gender pay discrimination. The White House, media, and progressive organizations are pushing this narrative to advance their agenda that will result in more restrictions and mandates on businesses, and less flexibility and poor economic outlook for workers, especially women.

The wage gap statistic is widely misused and extremely misleading. Why? When controlling for factors that affect pay—like profession, education, experience, hours worked, and working conditions—the pay gap shrinks to almost nothing (a penny).

If Washington wants to best support women they need to demolish barriers to opportunity, clear the way for flexible work, promote fair and flexible paid leave, relax childcare regulations and give parents the resources to engage childcare help.
