John,
When I announced I was running for governor in West Virginia without accepting one cent in corporate PAC money, many people told me it could never be done. After all, I am challenging the billionaire Democrat-turned-Republican incumbent, who was able to self-fund his own campaign last time around. But together, we’re building a movement and proving that when we fight for working families, we can win.
And I’m not running alone. We’ve recruited more than 70 pro-labor, no-corporate-cash candidates down ballot, because no single politician can win the change we need in West Virginia. Only a movement can.
It’s because of this dedicating to lifting up working families and movement-building, that I was honored to earn the endorsement of the Working Families Party, who is building a grassroots, populist movement to fight for the many, not the few across the country. And tonight, Sunday, January 26 at 8pm ET/5pm PT, I’m delighted to join the good people at WFP for their monthly virtual gathering — the WFP Assembly. Will you join me, too?

The WFP Assembly is a monthly gathering of organizers, activists, and allies, to share in our struggle and commit to fighting for working people across the country. It’s a time to connect with WFP members across the country who agree that our country is rigged for the haves against the have-nots, and like you, John, they want to do something about it.
So join me tonight at 8pm ET/5pm PT, as I talk about the exciting movement we’re building in West Virginia with WV Can’t Wait, and how we can once again have a government that is truly of, by, and for the people.
Hope to see you there,
Stephen Smith
