Dear Friend,

In a world where being a woman can be a significant barrier to equity, opportunity, and achievement, this month celebrates the accomplishments of women around the world. It is important to recognize that women often face unique obstacles that can make it difficult to achieve their goals. That is why I wanted to highlight the important work being done by National Urban League to support women of color in their pursuit of success.

We are committed to empowering individuals and communities through education, economic empowerment, and social justice. As part of this mission, we offer a range of free programs and services that help women of color overcome the barriers they face and achieve their full potential. With your help, all women can receive the guidance and training they need to break through barriers and achieve their dreams.

With your generous support, we can help countless women achieve financial independence and build successful careers.

Women like Sherilyn Hayward, a trailblazing entrepreneur and a role model for women everywhere, especially those with disabilities. In 2014, Sherilyn opened her lemonade business, Leroy's LipSmack'n Lemonade, with her son Leroy III. This business was born out of a desire to empower children with disabilities to believe in themselves and their entrepreneurial abilities. Today, their lemonade can be found in 36 stores and restaurants in the Baton Rouge area, including all LSU sports arenas.

With the help of National Urban League’s Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Sherilyn has made remarkable progress. She's a graduate of the Scale Up! Louisiana Program and the winner of the 2021-22 ULLA Women-In-Business Challenge. Sherilyn also took home the 1st Place prize of $10,000 during our 2022 Small Business Matters Pitch Competition.

As you see, your donation helps to fuel our mission for equity and helps empower us to provide training, mentoring, and other resources for women like Sherilyn to start and grow their own businesses.

In fact, 60% of people served through the Entrepreneurship Centers are women!

We offer these life-changing programs and mentorships free of charge – in addition to serving nearly 3 million people each year across the country. And your support helps us continue to do so.

Thank you for your continued support of the National Urban League.

With gratitude,

Marc H. Morial
