I asked 3 candidates to appoint a Secretary of Education who had been a public school teacher. Only Elizabeth Warren said yes.

I’m Liat Olenick, a public school teacher and activist.

Never in a million years did I think I’d be emailing one million people to ask them to support a presidential candidate. But that’s the magic of Senator Elizabeth Warren.

Let me explain.

I’ve been teaching for 9 years. Like Senator Warren, when I was a little girl, I would line my teddy bears up in bed and play school. Teaching in real life is much harder. Still I keep teaching, because when it comes down to it, I love the kids.

When Donald Trump appointed billionaire heiress Betsy DeVos to head the Department of Education it was devastating for teachers like me. DeVos hadn’t attended public school, never taught in a public school, and was one of the leading funders of school privatization. It seemed her sole objective was to dismantle our public education system.

Enter Elizabeth Warren. When I met her in March of 2019, I asked her and her staff if she would pledge to appoint a Secretary of Education who had actually been a public school teacher.

She said YES-- and put it in her plans! Out of the three candidates I had asked to make this pledge, she was the only one who listened right away. She even gave me credit!

Elizabeth Warren doesn’t listen to billionaire donors or corporate consultants. She listens to people like you and me. Will you join me in endorsing her for president?

Then, you can help get her elected! Donate to her campaign here. Call voters from home here. Text them here.

When you see Elizabeth Warren in a selfie line, know that it's not a gimmick. It's a future President listening to the stories of the people she wants to represent.

Along with appointing an Education Secretary who’s been a public school teacher, her plan invests hundreds of billions of dollars in public schools -- paid for by a two-cent wealth tax on fortunes above $50 million.

In fact, Elizabeth Warren has a raft of amazing plans -- detailed, paid-for plans -- to make sure our country works for all kids, not just the richest. At every stage of their lives.

Universal child care, investing in public education, debt-free college, a revitalized economy where workers have more power, fighting climate change, Medicare for All, even expanding Social Security benefits -- Elizabeth Warren is the one candidate who can get it done.

Can you join me and endorse Elizabeth Warren for president? She's listened to us -- now we need to vote for her. Click here.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez told PCCC members, "The majority of Americans are with us on the policies. Americans support Medicare for All, expanding Social Security benefits, gun reform, debt-free college, and a $15 minimum wage. Bold progressive values are popular EVERYWHERE. Together, we have the people. Together, with your help, we’ll have the votes." Chip in $3 here.
