After increasing their threats to Social Security and Medicare for months, the GOP are spending millions to cover up their actions. They’ve launched new misleading attack ads in our most vulnerable districts, earlier in the cycle than ever before.
With only weeks until our first public Federal Election Commission (FEC) deadline of the year, GOP-aligned groups will be looking to see if these misleading ads are working.
Democrats have always stood for protecting and expanding Medicare. President Biden’s newest budget proposal and the law we passed to expand Medicare’s negotiating power with Big Pharma to lower prescription costs show it.
Last year, I introduced bipartisan legislation to improve and expand Medicare access, including:
The Health Savings for Seniors Act to allow Medicare patients to contribute to existing or create new Health Savings Accounts (HSA)
The Supporting Medicare Providers Act to prevent pay cuts for Medicare physicians
And the Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act, which unanimously passed the House, to streamline how Medicare Advantage plans use prior authorization to prevent paperwork-related delays in necessary and routine care
As a doctor, I will always stand up for accessible, affordable health care access. That’s why I have to raise a red flag here.
The GOP has worked to make health care less accessible and more expensive for decades—choosing their corporate friends over the health of the American people time and time again. With their new ads, they are trying to distort the record.
It can seem like the 2024 election is far away, but with attack ads already starting, we need to hit back.
