Fellow Kansan,

Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter! I’m excited to update you on my work in Washington, D.C. and the First District of Kansas.

It is an honor to represent Kansans in the Big First District in the 118th Congress. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America – I serve to fight and work to make it stronger, and I believe our brightest days are yet to come.

Yours in service,

House of Representatives Votes to Review President Biden's WOTUS Rule

Producers have been forced to operate their businesses under three different definitions of ‘water’ in the last 10 years, which is totally unacceptable. Last week, the House of Representatives passed a resolution under the Congressional Review Act to demand a review of President Biden’s Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) rule, which removes longstanding bipartisan exemptions for common water features like ponds and streams found on private property. While President Biden would like to regulate every small stream, ditch, and puddle from sea to shining sea, American producers have been the careful custodians of their own resources for centuries. I will always oppose any federal attempts to overstep state and local water and private property laws.

President Biden Dismantles Stepped-Up Basis, Imposes Farm Killer Tax

Over the weekend, President Biden’s Treasury Department released the tax proposals that the President intends to use to pay for his progressive wish list. It confirms what I expected – that President Biden is once again attempting to dismantle the stepped-up basis and impose the Farm Killer Tax, a grossly overreaching capital gains tax on American producers and small business owners. I’m fighting against these proposals and will introduce legislation to preserve the stepped-up basis next week. House Republicans are working to stop these destructive tax proposals because people’s livelihoods hang in the balance.

Submit Your Thoughts on the Reauthorization of the Federal Aviation Administration

The Big First is home to seven commercial airports and 39 general aviation airports, which support thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in economic activity. Kansans deserve a place at the table when the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and Congress reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). I just launched a portal for you to submit your priorities for the modernization of the FAA, and I look forward to working together to prioritize American aviation infrastructure and safety programs while incorporating new technologies.

You can send your priorities for the FAA Reauthorization directly to my office by emailing: [email protected]

Demanding Declassification of Information on

COVID-19's Origin

The COVID-19 Pandemic put the world on hold for two years, and the American people deserve to have all available information regarding COVID-19’s origins. Last week, the House of Representatives passed legislation that would require the Director of National Intelligence to declassify information relating to the origin of COVID-19. Both Congress and the American public deserve to have as much information as possible to prevent a similar pandemic from happening in the future and to hold bad-acting countries or entities accountable.

Protecting Freedom of Speech from Government Interference Act

The Protecting Speech from Government Interference Act will protect the rights of all Americans to share their opinions and views online without government censorship. It expands the Hatch Act— the law prohibiting federal employees from engaging in political activities in their official capacity—to expressly prohibit government officials from using their authority or influence to promote censorship of speech or pressure a social media company to censor speech.

I voted YES on this legislation because I made a commitment to the Big First to preserve Americans' constitutional freedoms, and freedom of speech is paramount.
