Power the Vote is launching the Blue Texas
project to fight + fund everywhere!
Dear John, it’s time we have a talk about Texas.
Have you heard the story about the grasshopper?
If you put a grasshopper in a jar and close the lid, the grasshopper will try to escape – but eventually, if it tries and fails, it will give up.
You can take off the lid, but at that point, it won’t matter. The grasshopper feels defeated and simply won’t jump.
You and I, we’re the grasshoppers in this story. But our story has a different ending.
You see, Texas Republicans have tried to put us in a jar. They’ve used a two-part strategy of gerrymandering and voter suppression to silence our voices and leave our communities discouraged.
They hope to make us feel that we can’t climb the jar – that we can’t make change, no matter how hard we try.
But here’s the truth: we have incredible power when we join together and fight as one.
The first step is knowing that there is no lid on this jar.
Yes, we have a steep wall to climb to make change in Texas, and it’s going to take all of us committing to doing this work. But that change is coming, if we fight for it.
That’s why I’m excited to tell you about Blue Texas.
Blue Texas is a community of people like you who are dedicated to leaving no voter, no nominee, and no district behind. The community strikes back at voter suppression and gerrymandering by crowdsourcing support for permanent voter protection programs and Democratic nominees for state legislature.

The fact is, Texas isn’t a red state – it’s a non-voting state. And that’s no accident. Gerrymandering and voter suppression are designed to make us feel that our votes don’t matter.
So, like that grasshopper, we’ve been taught not to use our power.
But here’s where our story changes . What if we run and fund progressive candidates in communities all over the state? What if we hold Republicans accountable and make them fight everywhere – even in deeply gerrymandered districts? What if we empower voters in every community to overcome voter suppression and make their voices heard?
That’s what Blue Texas is all about, and that’s how we change our story.
I hope you’ll join the Blue Texas community [[link removed]] for just $10/mo – and when you do, you’ll be invited to join me at the very first Blue Texas community event on March 28 at 7pm CT. (Rescheduled due to storms!)
I know that working together we can empower voters and fight for communities all over Texas.
I’m excited to have this conversation, and I hope you’ll join me on March 28.
In solidarity,
Kim Allen

We Fund Voter Protection
Republicans have the one-two punch of voter suppression and gerrymandering. Blue Texas is the counterpunch.
We're a community that boosts both a consistent, year-round voter protection army and Democratic nominees for Texas state legislature.
