President Biden has confirmed his approval of the Willow oil drilling project.

As a reminder: The Willow project is ConocoPhillips' proposed oil drilling project in Alaska. This project would result in the burning of another 590 million barrels of oil and drastically impact Indigenous communities from increased pollution, wildlife degradation, risk of violence, and pave the way for more drilling in the area.

Furthermore, the Willow project is projected to create a drastic increase in toxins and pollutants that lead to diseases such as cancer and asthma. In addition, this project would contribute to light, noise, and chemical pollution while impacting food security and job insecurity.

This is a clear example of the profits-over-people politics that has fueled extreme weather, climate chaos, violence, and public health crises. We need a complete overhaul of the politics and systems that allow such destruction to take place.
