Environmental Quality Board meeting

*Join us virtually for the March Environmental Quality Board meeting. At this meeting, the board will vote for the EQB vice-chairperson. The board will also hear a process update and participate in a discussion regarding the environmental review continuous improvement effort. Pollinators
Draft Minnesota pollinator action framework open for public feedback

The first draft of the Minnesota pollinator action [ [link removed] ] framework [ [link removed] ] was released on December 1, 2022. We opened a second round of public engagement to gather feedback on the action framework. Visit our online platform [ [link removed] ] to share your feedback and ideas to help pollinators. The platform will be open until Wednesday, March 15.

*Catherine Neuschler named executive director of the Environmental Quality Board *

Catherine Neuschler will serve as the new executive director of the Minnesota Environmental Quality Board as of March 22. Neuschler has worked for the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency for more than 15 years, with the last 10 years spent in management and supervisory roles. She brings experience in both air and water quality issues, along with a strong background in program development and rulemaking. She holds a master?s degree in Public Affairs from the O?Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University, and a bachelor?s degree in Political Science and Environmental Studies from Macalester College. ?

Updated Commercial Solar Siting Guidance is available!

The Department of Natural Resources Commercial Solar Siting Guidance provides a current and comprehensive guide to avoiding and minimizing natural resources impacts during solar development. This guidance is intended to aid developers of utility-scale solar, as well as community solar projects, regarding project siting, construction, and operations. *Project description: *Heartland Corn Products, Inc., an ethanol production facility at 53331 Highway 19 East, Winthrop, Minnesota, proposes to expand their current operations by constructing: 1) a new High Protein Production Unit and its associated equipment to increase production capacity, and 2) an additional rail siding to increase shipping capacity. HCP proposes to increase its currently permitted ethanol production capacity from 155 million gallons per year (MMgpy) to 25 MMgpy, for a total capacity of 180 MMgpy.
