Folks,
Today is Equal Pay Day. The day that marks how far into the new year a woman must work to earn what her male counterparts were paid the previous year.
It’s true: For every dollar a man makes, a woman earns just 83 cents.
We can’t stand for this inequality any longer. So as a woman and a member of Congress, I’m committed to fighting for equal pay every day I represent Michigan’s 11th District in Washington.
But I need your help. So please, in honor of Equal Pay Day, will you pitch in just $5 to continue drawing attention to the ongoing gender-based pay crisis? We need grassroots supporters like you on our side to finally bring justice to the workplace. >>
Women face countless barriers in the workplace, all of which lead directly to the gender-based pay discrimination we face every single day we show up to work.
That’s why I was proud to cosponsor the Paycheck Fairness Act—legislation passed by my fellow House Democrats to ensure greater transparency surrounding the disparities in wages.
But today, on Equal Pay Day, we’re once again reminded that unequal pay is detrimental toward both our workforce and our economy as a whole.
All women deserve equal pay for equal work, and it’s past time we hold discriminatory employers accountable. So please, will you pitch in $5 (or more!) to help our campaign continue the fight to abolish the gender wage gap in America?
If you’ve saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately.
In solidarity,
Haley Stevens
