** Is the U.S. Banking Industry About to Collapse?
------------------------------------------------------------
The collapse ([link removed]) of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) has sent shockwaves around the world.
Though by all available measures the U.S. economy isn't in a great place, the second largest bank collapse in American history, which triggered the third largest, is concerning to say the least. This financial turmoil has spilled into other banks around the world, and the bloodbath might not be over yet.
On Monday alone, U.S. banks lost $100 billion ([link removed]) in value.
So is the nation about to head into another hard recession or, worst still, a depression? That remains to be seen, but the news isn't good.
Later today, the Consumer Price Index report ([link removed]) on inflation will come out. As the Fed seems poised to pause any rate increases in hope of stabilizing the markets, that may bring a bit of welcome reprieve but it's only a temporary measure.
Have a wonderful week!
