Funding boost for Northumberland National Park

 

I am delighted that following our campaign, the Government has announced £4.4 million of extra investment in our National Parks, with Northumberland National Park set to receive £440k.

This funding recognises the vital role National Parks play in protecting our wildlife and environment while supporting the tourism sector.

Visiting our rural schools - Slaley and Kielder

I have recently visited two of our rural schools, Slaley First School and Kielder Primary & Nursery School.

As part of the Government's boost in funding for our schools, I am delighted that Slaley will receive £9,597 and Kielder £5,670 extra in funding in the coming financial year. 

It was great to catch up with the headteachers and to speak with some of the pupils at both schools about my role as an MP, British values and answer any questions they had. 

Campaign success on banking van in Corbridge

I am pleased that Cllr Nick Oliver and I have managed to successfully convince Barclays to bring their banking van service to Corbridge for the first time on Friday 17th March.

The van will be in Corstopitum Social Club's car park on St Helen's Street, between 10am and 3pm.

This follows our campaign for banks to keep physical facilities in communities where they have closed down a branch. 

I will be working with Nick and Barclays to ensure the van regularly visits Corbridge, following our success in Ponteland.
