Everytime Bernie takes the debate stage, he’s asked a simple question: “You support Medicare for All. How are you going to pay for it?”
For a second, I want you to imagine a different world. One where on a national stage, instead of asking how we should pay for health care for every American, we asked how we’re going to pay for these endless foreign wars.
Our priorities are out of line. It shouldn’t just be a given that we fund bombs and tanks, but that people are on their own when it comes to insulin and the emergency room.
It doesn’t make sense that the Department of Defense gets a blank check, and every other important initiative has to run the gauntlet of “well, how do we pay for it?” as we magically find trillions of dollars to spend on these wars.
That’s why we’re fighting for progressive change — because we won’t let their talking points stop us from making sure that no person goes bankrupt just because they get sick.
In solidarity,
Ro Khanna
