In just a moment, I am going to ask you to contribute to my campaign for U.S. Senate as part of our very first monthly fundraising goal of this critical election year. I hope you'll give me a moment to explain why this request is so important.

The truth is, we are behind on our grassroots fundraising target for 2020 and we're about to have one month already under our belts. I must sound like a broken record by now, but January is pretty terrible for this sort of thing -- and this is the worst possible moment to be struggling to hit a target.

With so much going on in Washington, I need to stay focused on fighting for our progressive values in the Senate and making sure Democrats don't lose this seat (and with it, virtually any chance to flip the majority).

But trying to keep Minnesota blue and doing my job to protect our health care, defend reproductive freedom, lower the cost of prescription drugs, and so much more has left me with very little time to worry about anything else.

The good news is that my team has been keeping track of our fundraising and we're not too far behind where we need to be for our first monthly goal of the year. Whatever you're able to spare before the deadline should do the trick.

So, here comes the part where I personally ask for your help:
