John,

[ [link removed] ]A headline detailing the impact of the $50 trillion dollar income
inequality gap.Three years ago, the United States entered the COVID-19
pandemic with several of its own pre-existing conditions — an eroding
public health infrastructure, employer-based health insurance, and scarce
essential medical supplies resulting in the chaotic and spotty pandemic
response we saw in 2020.

Now, three years later, we are just continuing to see the consequences of
the pandemic and its cruel, uneven impact on people across the country.
The $50 trillion dollar elephant in the room that's not getting enough
attention is how COVID-19 worsened extreme income inequality.

Income inequality isn't anything new. But it didn't have to be this way.
We didn't have to cut taxes for billionaires. We didn't have to
deregulate, we didn't have to allow CEOs to manipulate share prices
through stock buybacks.

[ [link removed] ]Rather than help those who needed it most, we chose to put the top 1
percent ahead of the bottom 90 percent. This is unacceptable. If you
agree, will you pitch in to stand with us and our progressive movement to
fight for the bottom 90 percent?

With this income inequality growing at a rate of $2.5 trillion annually,
had this money gone to working families and communities, it would have
enabled the majority of Americans to enter 2020 more healthy, financially
secure and prepared.

We have the choice to fix this. By providing quality healthcare,
childcare, advancing worker's rights, and standing up for working class
communities, taxing the wealthiest and corporations, we have the ability
to start to bridge the $50 trillion dollar income inequality gap and chart
a clear path to ensure that this crisis doesn't continue to harm our
health and safety.

I know there will be several challenges ahead of us. Republicans have
shown us time and time again where there interests lie, and it's not with
the American people. However, we will continue to advance our progressive
agenda that works for all — with or without Republicans.

[ [link removed] ]Will you stand with our progressive coalition and chip in today to
advance our bold agenda forward?

We're in this together, and thankful to have your support.

In solidarity,

Team Jayapal
