In the 10th consecutive week of protests in Israel against Netanyahu’s
anti-democratic judicial reforms, roughly half a million Israelis -- over
5% of the population -- came out onto the streets.

In the United States too, hundreds of American Jews and Israeli-Americans
-- including J Streeters -- protested Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich in
Washington, DC (The settlement-movement leader has pushed plans to limit
religious pluralism, championed the judicial overhaul and recently called
for Israel to “wipe out” a Palestinian village).

Week by week, in Israel and beyond, more and more people are realizing
that Israel’s democratic future is at stake. Support for the pro-democracy
movement is growing in strength, even in surprising, more conservative
quarters.

It’s inspiring to see, and J Street is proud to help lead this fight.

Our organizers are rallying the broadest, strongest possible coalition of
pro-Israel Americans to speak out and push back. Our advocacy team is
continuing to press Congress and the Biden Administration to take action,
recognizing that this crisis threatens the future of Israelis and
Palestinians alike.

Together, we recognize that the far-right’s agenda undercuts Israel's
democratic future by weakening the justice system and narrowing religious
pluralism within its borders, whilst supercharging settlements, occupation
and annexation beyond them.

Last week, over 90 Members of Congress signed a J Street-backed letter to
President Biden urging him to show stronger leadership. We must sustain
and build upon this momentum.

cheerleaders and their enablers in the United States. We’re taking on
complacency, inaction and an outdated playbook for “pro-Israel” politics.

We’re pressing for leadership that is true to our shared values, and for
an Israel that is true to its founding ideals of democracy, equality,
justice and peace.
