A Message from Congresswoman Sherrill

Dear Friend,

Last year, the Honoring Our PACT Act was signed into law, which created a presumption of service connection for as many as 3.5 million veterans who are suffering from illnesses and cancers related to toxic exposure. Toxic Burn Pit exposure is this generation’s Agent Orange and prior to this bill’s passage, too many exposed veterans were denied care they earned. That’s why I fought to pass long-overdue legislation that ensures our veterans receive help, without waiting decades, by streamlining the VA’s process for establishing toxic exposure presumptions. Millions of veterans nationwide, including right here in New Jersey, are starting to access the care they have earned.

I am writing to share information about the VA New Jersey Health Care System upcoming PACT Act Enrollment Event at the County College of Morris on Saturday, March 18, 2023. VA staff will be on site to help you determine your eligibility for VA healthcare and PACT Act benefits, and, for those eligible, enroll you in the VA health system and start a claim for benefits on the spot. A member of my team will be joining the VA to help you with other questions related to Federal benefits or military records requests you may have. Please see the flier below for additional information on how to sign up and attend the event.

I am so glad my team was able to work together with Morris County to facilitate bringing this event to CCM. And a big thank you to CCM for hosting! We are working with the VA to bring similar events to other parts of Northern New Jersey in the coming months. It is critical to get veterans enrolled in these programs and ensure that you, as well as your family and friends, have access to these hard earned benefits.
