"I'm not gonna say it like it's an opinion. That's what it is. It's
firearms. More than cancer, more than car accidents."

legislation and the gun violence crisis putting our kids at risk.

[ [link removed] ]Jon Stewart interviews Oklahoma lawmaker Nathan Dahm about anti-LGBTQ+
laws and gun violence on his show, "The Problem".

Anti-LGBTQ+ legislation is not—and has never been—about protecting
children. Guns are the #1 killer of children in America. Yet the state
Republican lawmakers pushing anti-LGBTQ+ bills like drag bans, Don't Say
Gay laws, and bans on gender-affirming healthcare are the same lawmakers
weakening gun laws and blocking gun safety bills. They say they care about
our kids while making the crisis that's killing them the most even worse.

As Jon Stewart says, it's hypocrisy at its highest order.

Anti-LGBTQ+ hate, bigotry, and our country's gun violence crisis are
inseparably linked. Just look at the numbers:

* Between 2017 and 2022, there were 222 homicides of transgender or
gender non-conforming people. 74% were killed with a gun, and most of
them were Black women.
* In an average year, more than 25,000 hate crimes in the U.S. involve a
firearm—69 a day.
* LGBTQ youth—especially transgender and questioning youth—are at higher
risk of being threatened or injured with a weapon on school property
than their non-LGBTQ peers.

These lawmakers are targeting LGBTQ+ people to distract from their utter
failure to keep our kids safe from the crises actually harming them. Our
children are paying for it with their lives.

putting our communities at risk: Watch this powerful interview with Jon
Stewart to see what we're up against.

Thank you for being a part of this movement and for working to make this
country a safer place for every community.
