John, last month, I had the incredible opportunity to give a response to the State of the Union on behalf of the Working Families Party!

In my response, I advocated for the expansion of Social Security and Medicare. But I also emphasized something really personal for me: immigration reform.

Before I tell you anymore, Republicans are committed to denying an entire group of people basic humanity. If my team and I are going to be able to fight back, we need to show the strength and depth of support for our mission. Please, John, will you donate any amount you can spare?

Delia: We need humane, comprehensive immigration reform

As the only member of Congress coming from a mixed-status household, immigration reform has always been a very personal issue for me.

And to hear my Republican colleagues call people like my family, people like my husband Boris, horrible names and try to spread their ignorance and hate – it genuinely breaks my heart.

Immigration reform is a human rights issue. It's an issue of recognizing someone's basic humanity and right now, we're doing it all wrong.

John, our country needs comprehensive immigration reform. We need to hold up the right to asylum, and put protections against deportation in place.

I'm working my hardest so that our country can begin to take steps in the right direction, but I can't do anything without a team who's as passionate about this issue as I am. Delia Ramirez has dedicated her life and career to advocating for working families.
