*AG Nessel Congratulates AAG Aaron Levin on Recognition by Ingham County Bar Association*
*LANSING* ? Assistant Attorney General Aaron Levin [ [link removed] ] has been named one of the Ingham County Bar Association?s (ICBA) ?Top 5 Under 35? lawyers for 2023, Attorney General Dana Nessel announced. The ?Top 5 Under 35? recognition is awarded based on an individual?s talents, skills, professionalism, and civility in the practice of law.
AAG Levin was recognized on account of his outstanding work as a consumer advocate in the Department of Attorney General?s Corporate Oversight Division, as well as for his leadership on the ICBA Young Lawyers Section Board of Directors.
In over five years with the department, AAG Levin has helped the Corporate Oversight Division take on several major legal battles. His colleagues have commended his knack for finding new and inventive ways to leverage the Michigan Consumer Protection Act to ensure our state?s residents are safeguarded from financial exploitation.
Just this past year, Levin helped negotiate a $3.5 million settlement with Intuit TurboTax which went toward refunding over 115,000 Michigan consumers who were deceived into paying to file their federal tax return. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when the department was hit with an influx of more than double the typical number of consumer complaints, Levin was among those who stepped up to handle Michiganders? concerns in a thoughtful and timely manner. He is also credited with shaping a new roadmap for how the Corporate Oversight Division holds accountable predatory lenders.
In addition to his legal work, Levin has gone above-and-beyond to help foster a welcoming and charitable culture ? both at the department and in the surrounding legal community. Levin organizes the department?s annual blood drive, and his ongoing commitment to ICBA recently earned him membership on the ICBA Young Lawyers Section Board of Directors.
?We are so fortunate to have dedicated, creative young legal minds like AAG Aaron Levin on our staff at the Department of Attorney General, utilizing their skills on behalf of all our state?s residents,? Nessel said. ?I extend my sincere congratulations to him in recognition of this well-deserved award.?
Levin was honored at the ICBA 14th Annual Barrister?s Night on March 9, 2023.
