Michigan Republicans blocked inflation relief checks from taking immediate effect

Hello,

Governor Whitmer signed the Lower MI Costs bill into law. Her historic tax relief plan will repeal the state’s retirement tax and expand tax credits for working families, ultimately saving Michiganders $1 billion.

Michigan Democrats worked hard to pass one of the biggest tax relief bills in our state’s history quickly to help Michiganders keep money in their pockets with inflation relief checks on the way.

What did Republicans do? They decided to play political games and blocked inflation relief checks from taking immediate effect. Now, Michiganders are forced to wait a year before they receive their inflation relief checks.

Together, we can defeat Michigan Republicans at the ballot box in November. Chip in here to fuel our critical work →

Michigan Republicans promise one thing and then they vote another way. I don’t know about you, but I call that hypocrisy.

It’s our job now to hold Republicans accountable for their hypocrisy while they continue to play political games with the lives of Michiganders. From now until November 2024, we need to make sure every Michigander knows what Republicans stand for.

Will you make a contribution toward the MDP’s Highlight Hypocrisy Fund today so we can shine a light on the MIGOP’s hypocrisy, starting with their vote to block inflation relief checks?
