Dear John,
Common sense has prevailed, and I’m
happy to see that the BBC has agreed its heavy-handed impartiality
guidelines need a review.
But this doesn’t change the fact
that the legislation this whole fuss started over is still due to be
pushed through by a Government that has perfected the art of
performative cruelty, using asylum seekers and refugees as political
footballs to distract voters from the mess it’s made of running the
country.
I need your help to ensure that the
backlash against this cruel policy lasts longer than just the Gary
Lineker story:
This afternoon our MPs are debating
the so-called Illegal
Migration Bill and we need
to send them a message - that the UK wants to be a compassionate,
caring country which doesn’t demonise those most in need.
The Government has created this
mess itself by closing safe and legal routes for those in need to seek
asylum through - sign
our petition and make it clear that this bill needs to be given
the boot:
Thanks for all you do!
Best wishes,
Naomi Smith
