Protests against femicide, oppression, restrictive abortion rights, pay disparities, and gender-based violence erupted across Latin America and the Caribbean on International Women's Day. Last year, 4,473 women in Latin America were killed because of their gender.

Transgender youth are experiencing a mental health crisis

In 2021, the Trevor Project, an LGBTQ+ youth crisis organization, found that 25% of the 1,717 Black transgender and nonbinary youth they interviewed had attempted suicide in the past year. Only 13% reported having a supportive home environment.
