[Hope Walks Here AFSP Campus Walks]([link removed])

Each spring, the Out of the Darkness Campus Walks light the way for thousands of students, families, and faculty to have open and honest conversations about suicide and mental health. Campus Walk events, held at high schools and colleges across the country, give participants within school communities a vital opportunity to make meaningful connections, find support, and raise awareness and funds for suicide prevention.

Andre Sillas, who helped create the UC Davis Students Against Suicide group as an undergraduate, is one of many advocates who make a difference at Campus Walk events. He initially came to the cause after surviving an attempt his freshman year of college, and connecting with AFSP to organize the first of many Campus Walk events at his school:

"It is by sharing our experiences – as survivors of suicide loss, or those who struggle – that we are able to connect, provide empathy and understanding by saying, 'Here is my darkest time, and thank you for sharing yours. Let's be together in this moment.'" [(Read more of Andre's story on AFSP's Real Stories blog.)]([link removed])

As a result of Andre and his peers advocating for suicide prevention, the UC Davis Students Against Suicide group has put on seven successful Campus Walk events since 2015. You can join Andre and thousands of other advocates in the fight to stop suicide by registering for a Campus Walk event near you.
